Mathew’s journey began as a lifelong athlete with a passion for business and competition. After studying Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University, he quickly rose to Head of Research at J.J. Barnicke Whitney while simultaneously launching his commercial real estate career at DTZ Barnicke. His path led him through Canada’s premier land acquisition teams and into the Brownfield Remediation sector with WaterfrontTO following the 2008 market crash.
When life took an unexpected turn during a routine run, Mathew found himself battling Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin’s T Cell Lymphoma. But even during chemotherapy treatments, downtime wasn’t an option. With the support of former clients, he founded Huron Development Consulting from his hospital bed, proving that determination can overcome any obstacle.
Today, you’ll find him swimming leisurely at Wilfrid Laurier and running at a more relaxed pace along the Speed River in Guelph, but his commitment to excellence remains unwavering.
